After several weeks of sunshine, Le Blizzard 5* has just closed its doors for a few months before gradually turning its attention to the upcoming winter season.

This summer was marked by particularly generous weather. While France experienced several heatwaves, the mountains offered a welcome breath of fresh air. At an altitude of 1,850 metres, days were spent enjoying the great outdoors, from hikes and high-altitude adventures to relaxing by the pool and making the most of long summer evenings. Another way to experience the mountains, under the summer sun, surrounded by beautiful landscapes and at the gentle pace of alpine life.

We were delighted to welcome back our regular guests and to meet new visitors discovering Val d’Isère in summer. The flowering alpine meadows, marmots, hiking trails and surrounding peaks once again provided a beautiful backdrop to the season, with the solar eclipse adding a truly memorable highlight.

Now, the mountains are slowly beginning to change. The days are getting shorter, the first cool mornings are heralding the arrival of autumn, and our teams are already turning their attention to the season ahead. The hotel will gradually take on its winter atmosphere, preparations will begin, and the familiar energy of the house will slowly return.

In the meantime, we take with us the wonderful memories of this summer and look forward to welcoming you back once again. A new season is already taking shape on the horizon…

We have already reached the heart of our summer season… Days unfold to the rhythm of mountain hikes, leisurely lunches on the terrace, relaxing moments by our heated outdoor pool, and long alpine evenings where daylight seems reluctant to fade behind the peaks.

While much of France has been experiencing an intense heatwave for several weeks, Val d’Isère remains a refreshing retreat. At an altitude of 1,850 metres (6,070 ft), the mountain air stays wonderfully cool, the nights invite deep and restful sleep, and each morning begins beneath crystal-clear skies.

The alpine meadows are now in full bloom, marmots have reclaimed their favourite playgrounds, mountain streams continue to flow from the last patches of melting snow, and nature is at its most spectacular.

Here, time slows down. There is space to breathe, to wander, to reconnect, and simply to savour each moment.

At Le Blizzard, we are delighted to welcome back our loyal guests while introducing new visitors to the unique charm of summer in Val d’Isère. After more than two months of silence, snow-dusted peaks and nature reclaiming the mountains, Le Blizzard 5* reopens today for its summer season.

Until 23rd August, we return to our summer rhythm: crisp mornings, long days in the mountains and gentle evenings under the Val d’Isère sky.

At 1,850 metres above sea level, the air feels different. Purer, lighter, cooler. Here, you open your window in the morning and take a deep breath. You rediscover the pleasure of sleeping under a duvet in the middle of July, walking in the fresh mountain air and simply slowing down.

Summer in the mountains is a discreet luxury. The luxury of cool temperatures when the heat rises elsewhere. The luxury of silence, open spaces and time moving a little more slowly.
The hiking trails are open, the alpine meadows are in bloom, the streams still carry the meltwater of the glaciers, and the terrace of Le Blizzard 5* is waiting for the first drinks shared after a day spent in the mountains.

In exactly one month, on July 3rd, Le Blizzard will reopen its doors for a new summer season, welcoming guests until August 23rd.

In the meantime, the mountains are gently awakening. With each passing day, the alpine meadows become more vibrant. Wildflowers begin to carpet the hillsides, the larch trees regain their rich green hues, and the streams, fed by the melting snow, rush energetically through the valley. After the long winter months, nature is reclaiming its place, offering one of Val d’Isère’s most beautiful spectacles.

On the sunny slopes, marmots emerge from their burrows and return to their favourite playgrounds. Hiking trails gradually reappear, inviting exploration, while the snow-capped peaks above remain a reminder of the untamed beauty of the high mountains.

This summer promises to be filled with memorable experiences and discoveries. Panoramic hikes, cycling adventures, relaxing moments at the spa, leisurely lunches on the terrace, sporting events and village festivities will set the rhythm of the season. With the arrival of daylight saving time, the days grow longer, inviting you to make the most of every moment. Mornings begin in the crisp freshness of perfectly groomed snow—enhanced by the latest overnight snowfall—while afternoons stretch on under a soft, almost golden light.

A different way of experiencing the mountains unfolds: a more peaceful atmosphere, wider open slopes, fewer crowds… and often, even greater pleasure. Skiing feels freer, more spontaneous, almost carefree.

The Blizzard 5* had the immense pleasure of hosting an inspiring wedding during 4 days of festivities, under invigorating sunshine.

Between culinary workshops, creative cocktails, family barbecue, overflowing brunch, hiking, spirited backgammon…

The celebration was exceptionally beautiful for our newlyweds and their families.

We couldn’t be more grateful that they chose us and wish M & V, as well as their two little daughters, a lifetime of happiness.
